I've always been an optimist about being a pilot at UPS. I feel lucky and blessed to have this job. UPS has treated me well and the IPA pilots I fly with are top notch.

However, the wheels are falling off. UPS management's relationship with its pilots is comical at best. Junior high student council presidents show better leadership than the managers at UPS Airlines. It doesn't stop there. IPA leadership is equally pathetic. Call it what you want to; lying, misstatements, accidently miscounting the cards, ygtbsm. There is no communication from the IPA nor UPS about hardly anything. Meanwhile more and more line pilots and FQSs are failing training and the FAA appears to have a hardon for everyone.

The company cannot succeed with its unions determined not to go one step further than required. Conversely, the IPA pilots can not be fully utilized in a caustic environment with bush league management. Its becoming every man for himself; flaps 20 approaches in MEX, pilots in the training center, and most sadly the 105 or so furloughees with no job, no paycheck and no hope.

We would have been so much better off opening the contract to keep everyone employed. We actually have capts picking up OT and indifferent to the plight of everyone else. Yet the recent survey mentioned nothing about putting a 4a.2d type clause in the next contract. Those on this board who blindly follow the IPA EB are every bit as bad as the brown kool aid drinkers in the FQS ranks. We need some freakin leadership in the airline and in the union.

Dude put the bottle down. Open the contract, crappy union leadership and all but open your eyes and see who you're dealing with. Put 4a2b language in CBA with ups?????. I have a suggestion for you. Call your congressman tomorrow and start lobbying and organize a protest and ask the us govement to sign a truce with Taliban. Man I'm glad you're not leading our union or we all be standing outside of UPS gate with our pants down.

Even the furloughees were against opening up the contract for relief. How many contracts do you want to negotiate to get back what we already fought for? Opening the contract would not solve the overmanning that ups and even the ipa said existed since the 8 was parked.

You talk of indifferent captains picking up OT...there are first officers as well engaging in this activity. IPA leadership has put out the message but there can't be leadership without followers. If you see someone violating the ban, pull them aside and talk to them and try and get them back on the path. If they don't respond, you have lost nothing while they have lost any respect going forward for the rest of their careers here at ups.

Know the contract and fly the contract...that is the best way to get our brothers and sisters back on property. *****ing and moaning about a perceived lack of leadership only benefits the company.

It's so easy to complain or point out the failings of the leadership at the top and complain about the myriad of problems. But when the call comes for volunteers to present solutions to the problems and be a part of the committees, all of the cockroaches disappear once the lights are turned on. As far as the wheels falling off, I would point to the profit statement and ask, perhaps rhetorically, exactly what is the company doing wrong? Managers failing line checks or simulator sessions is no surprise. Look at some of the experience levels.

It's not that easy. I've served at the MEC level at another airline, but didn't even get a response when I volunteered for any committee. If your not part of the inbreeding, or blindly follow, forget it. My experience
