Hi all,

Does anyone know if FedEx puts a limit on how many people a pilot can put recs in for?

If a rec is put in does it have to be updated every so often or is good indefinitely.

Finally, what is the general feeling (if there is one) that pilots tend to have towards providing recs...do people tend to guard them very closely for their "best best buds" or do people frequently provide numerous reps??

Just my opinions and observations.

You can have as many recs as your file will hold, but on your application put your top three (most senior, well liked/respected, capts). I know some people have had over 20 recs. For the pilots you use on your application, make sure they have put a rec in for you, if not, it doesn't look good.

If your recs are kinda dusty, it wouldn't hurt to ask the guys to update them.

Sponsorship is guarded pretty closely. That's the guy / gal who says they really know you and you won't be a complete pain / jacka$$ / complete failure. You're supposed to have flown with your sponsor.
Some people will give you a rec if they've met you over lunch, met in military flight ops, you've been recommended by one of their friends, etc.. Others will hold them back. It can't hurt to ask. Remember pilots are cheap - buy some beer (or sodas for thoes who don't drink) or take him / her to dinner.

What's better than any rec is someone going to their ACP and talking you up. I never had an offical meet and great but my sponsor took me to his ACP's office (they were newhires together). Got to match my face to my packet/resume. I also got to meet with the RCP since he happend to be around. About a month later, I had an interview date.
