Default FedEx Recurrent training bid question?

FedEx. I have a continuous block of R-days from July 28th to August 7th. I have recurrent training in August. If I bid training on August 1st & 2nd, does the entire block of R-days disappear or just the block that exists in the month of August?

Thanks.

I had a situation somewhat similar to this last year and got hosed on it (shocker), so although I don't have a definitive answer to your question, this may help with your recurrent bid.

Last year I had 5 carryover R days from the July bid month that carried in to August. I bid a reserve line that worked the first 15 days of August. My calendar showed one continuous block of 15 reserve days at the beginning of the August bid month that I was going to whack with recurrent training. Much to my dismay, scheduling viewed that chunk of reserve as 2 separate blocks of R days, because 5 of them were carryover R days from July and the other 10 were R days from the August bid. I argued my point with the company, then spoke to DT in contract enforcement. The contract seems pretty clear to me - it says "continuous block of R days." It doesn't say anything about how you got them. DT in contract enforcement of course told me the company line and said I didn't have a leg to stand on, so I was unable to knock out all 15 R days with my recurrent. I ended up splitting the 10 day block with recurrent training and all 10 of those R days disappeared, but the 5 carryover R days from July stayed on my schedule, even though it was one 15-day long continuous block of A reserve.

In your scenario, I think the company will take the view that your R days are 2 separate blocks of reserve as they are in different bid months, so bid accordingly. If your August R days are carryover days from July, then they may treat that as one block and knock out the whole thing for you, but I would bet strongly against that being the case.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

BP,

Thanks. Your reply was helpful because that is very similar to the situation I'm facing. As you mentioned, the contract says any continuous block of R-Days will be dropped if it conflicts with training. However, I am concerned the company will view the days in July as separate from the days in August even though combined, they constitute one continuous block of R-day.
