FDX - 727 Disputed Pairings for Nov
#21
Well so much for the word getting around to the new hires. Busboy was right, one individual will be awarded 8 of these pairings in a secondary line next month.
Ouch. At least they only scheduled it every other day so he could recover on his off time between one day trips. Sure hope he isn't a commuter.
That trip is so ugly that I am surprised anybody would actually ask for it. That is only what kept it alive for as long as it lasted.
Oh well.
But don't worry, the DP process isn't broken. All is well.

I should have added this is only the right seat. Looks like the guy got it once on reserve this month (when it was not disputed) and liked it so much he picked it up twice again this month (again not disputed) and 8 times next month via the VTO build (disputed).
Almost can't blame the guy, seeing as he will have flown it 3 times before it was disputed, this is more a symptom of a broken DP process than one individual's lack of SA.
We need to shiatcan this process and put HARD scheduling parameters in the contract.
I wonder how many people wrote that in the scheduling survey.

I think "the guy" is very uninformed --- most likely in the short term, and clearly of the long term consequences.
(...allow these trips in the bidpack and they could be back-to-back hubturns )
On the BIG upside "the guy" was the ONLY guy/gal in any seat position to pick up one of these DPs in the View/Add window.
Thumbs up to the Captain leadership!!
...and all the other FOs and SOs that said "no thanks" to voluntarily flying this DP.
Of course, Open Time starts this week so it will be a larger test of the whole 727 crew force.
Remember: Safe...Legal...Reliable.

Anyone know this guy! I surely hope he didn't know they were disputed. I too would be willing to cut him some slack as a new hire but I would have thought ALPA would have covered this with his class. And if they didn't yet more reason for some hard parameters.

Well, it shouldn't take a genius to figure out something is wrong during open time when the trip is there for the entire month for the other seats. Looks like the FO is somewhat local just up the road about an hour north. That should be a nice drive every night. I can hear the explanation now "It's not that bad and Im only working 8 days this month....Yeah me!

The sad part is, the company didn't build them into VTO's...but kept them out of the build process full well knowing (hoping) that they'd be picked up. Further, I bet that the schedulers got the marcing orders to do just that.
Pathetic on the company's part.
"Safety is paramount", what BS!!!

That is the problem. They talked about it mine, didn't in yours. THIS has to be discussed to new hires. I put this very thought in the remark section of the Scheduling Survey. (The Scheduling Survey Participation is still mind boggling to me )
