Default HNL seniority

I posted this on NAC thread, too, sorry about the repost

With the merged seniority list, anyone have a rough estimate of time it takes for a new hire to hold HNL on 737? anyone commutes from HNL to ANC?

The joint contract was ratified last Tuesday and we got a copy of the new seniority list on friday. Aloha had started their last new hire class of 4 right before the contract vote. Nobody knows anything about how they will be doing hiring after this class except it’s gonna all go through NAC. I can’t imagine there being many ANC guys that want to transfer to HNL and there is an 18 month fence for the 737. I would expect a new hire could get HNL right out of training if there is an opening in HNL. It will be interesting to see how hiring plays out because I would think that applicants for NAC and Aloha usually apply for the respective places because they want to fly at those specific bases. Will a Hawaii pilot apply for a job if they may get ANC based and vice versa? I guess we will find out.

A lot of the new hires at NAC don't live in Alaska, so the dynamic is changing. Not saying many of them want to go to Hawaii, but the dynamic is changing.
Pre merger, both companies were unique in that they only had one base in an isolated area of the country. So pilots from the local area could apply and be guaranteed they would be based where they live.
Now that has changed, with flying in MIA and LRD.
If you get hired now, very likely you start in MIA or LRD.
Unfortunately for pilots in HI, only place left that guarantees you are based at home is Ohana.

Is commuting viable if you don't get your desired domicile initially?

The HNL schedules seem to be much more commutable withan h most night schedules being 3 on 4 off schedules. Management has said that he he 767 HNL Schedule will not be commutable. I know absolutely nothing about the other base schedules.

Delayed response, but thanks! What domiciles are they hiring into mainly? I'm all about HNL.
