Default IFL Jumpseating

Hello IFL people, I have a bunch of time off coming up, the honey-do list is complete, the camping and fishing needs a rest, and the wife and kids are going out of town for a week to visit her in-laws.

I wanna check off some bucket list nerdisms and Jumpseat on a CV-580 and 727. Is there any schedules you folks know of that would allow this to happen within the US over, say, a day or two? Would prefer to go out on one type, come back on another. Or would that be impossible with your schedule?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have much that will help with them, but there are some cool planes operated by 135 companies in AK. For a DC-6 ride you could make your way up to Anchorage and fly with Everts out to King salmon, heard they sometimes go low level through Lake Clark Pass. That would beat a 727 ride in my book. Believe they have a C46 as well. GL

Kind of a cool idea for a nerd's day out. Depending on where you are we (Atlas) can get you to and from ANC easily.

CVG still gets Kalitta 2 727s from time to time.

Mia has a CV580 that runs daily down to Jamaica.

The East Caribbean might be a little more fun, but a wee but harder to get to since AA no longer has a San Juan hub. The are some pretty neat routes flying various places out of Saint Maarten.

After Irma, SXM is only a shadow of what it used to be.

This post is relevant but add the fact that IFL has the CRJ-200 freighters online and they have 2 supernumary seats: 1 in the cockpit and 1 outside the cockpit.

The CRJ is not guaranteed to create as much nostalgia as the CV580/B727...

What's that word you're saying, s c h e d u l e, is that some kind of sauce?
Like Hollandaise?

What's your schedule? Can you be in PTK in 20 minutes?

The C-46 ride would be out of Kenai but you can jumpseat on Raven to ENA. You can also ride the jump on the mighty DC-9-30 and or the MD-83 at Everts in ANC.

If you want to ride the DC-6 or C-46 bring clothes you don't mind getting greasy/oily.

That's a shame. It's been some years (8-10 years) since I was flying anything small in the East Caribbean.

Totally different place now unfortunately. SXM now is 99% Airbii and Winair Twin Otters. Hardly any widebodies either because the hurricane wiped out the island and they mostly get cruiseliners now and not the overseas travelers.

Keep the DC-9 and the MD... you can ride those in the lower 48. But you’ll never have the opportunity to ride the DC-6 in the lower 48. Worth the ride to ANC or FAI to ride the mighty 6. Make sure your iPhone or iPad are charged for videos and stills. You’ll probably be the only kid on your block to ride on a revenue producing flying museum piece.
