Today, the Association received official notice from UPS Chief Pilot J Barnes that A-300 Captain [] has been removed from pay status. [] was removed from flight status with pay on Friday. In a letter to [], the Company states that the Captain will remain off duty, off pay, until he is willing to "fully explain the security concerns" which motivated him to deny boarding to a jumpseater on June 29. IPA President Tom Nicholson wasted no time responding to the UPS action. "UPS is hiding behind a pretty thinly veiled pretense of being concerned about security. Where has the Company been since October of 2003 when the FAA directed both parties to get together to jointly address safety and security concerns?"
