Along those same lines:
I have a carryover into December and vacation the first week of January.
I bid a single departure line with an international trip that ends the last day of the December bid month and also protect min days off.
Will that single departure trip be eligible for make up (due to min days off protection) or will it be knocked out by the vacation in January (due to the 48 hour buffer)??
Assume I don't do anything to the January vacation because I want to wait until later to slide it.
Every year I have vacation questions and every year you guys help so as always THANKS!!!

I know vacation buffers don't cross bid months, but I thought the international duty free buffer would go into previous months for regular line holders:
(From section 7, page 80):
G. Vacation Bank Administration
1. Regular Line Holder
A regular line holder shall be removed from a trip(s) in conflict with his vacation period
(as awarded or slid) or vacation expansion. Conflict with an international duty free buffer,
as described in Section 12.D.1.d., shall constitute a conflict with the trip protected by that
buffer and may not be waived. The SCH value of the removed trip(s) shall be deducted
from the pilot's vacation credit hour bank.
2. Secondary/Custom Line Holder
a. A pilot shall receive a 48 hour duty free vacation buffer at each end of his
vacation period provided that the buffer occurs in a bid period in which the
pilot is awarded a secondary line. A vacation buffer shall not extend
outside the bid period(s) in which the vacation occurred. A vacation buffer
shall not create a conflict with a trip that began in the previous bid period.
I have never done this before so I am not sure?????
Thanks for your help!!

Looking at the bid period processing summary, it looks like my trip that ends on December 31 will get dropped by my vacation on Jan. 2 due to the buffer (its an international trip, more than 120 TAFB).
So next 2 questions:
-I have not slid or touched that Jan 2 vacation and it is causing a trip in December to be dropped. Will I still be able to slide it right during the January conflict input window (which occurs in mid-December)?
-The vacation is 7 days or 42 hours. The dropped trip in December is 30 hours. How many hours will I be able to expand that vacation to the right in Jan? I think its either 48 (42 + extra 6) or 18 (12 + extra 6)????
RacBan & Underdog, as far as 01:00 or 01:01, I have no idea!!??!
I know I could call Futures, but this is more fun
Thanks again everybody!

You should be able to slide it next month. I don't suppose it will let you slide to the right now will it (not that you want to)?
My guess is 18 on the expand. No limit on the slide.
This is fun but I'd give 'em a call and have them look at your calendar and vacation options.
