Default FDX - 727 Disputed Pairings for Nov

Hopefully, everybody is aware that disputed pairings are back in the 727 for November.

It's simple to identify - Trip 4 all month - paying 8+33 CHs (yes...very tempting for a 1 day trip!)

But let's examine the pairing and the long term ramifications a little further.

It starts with an early critical period show time for a short little leg to BFM...followed by a short 12+30 layover and an early afternoon show for a 2+46 leg to QRO (in Mexico) then 2+47 leg back to MEM (6+47 block total).

The company would hub turn these trips back to back if they weren't disputed.

Ouch!!!!!!

So what currently looks like one painful day for a good bit of pay, will turn into multiple fatiguing days when they are part of bidpack line.

The Union sees a simple (and historical) fix.

Fly the BFM portion as an AM O&B and the QRO has a PM O&B.....or have the crew layover in BFM and fly the 2 legs to QRO the next day.

This is a legitimate request based on fatigue and safety.

Given all the "new guys" in the FO and SO seat this year, and the fact that the 727 has not had disputed pairing in quite some time, we need to spread the word on why voluntarily flying disputed pairings is not prudent on many levels.

Fatigue....Safety....Precedent....long term QOL in trip/line construction.

Remember: you can only be assigned a disputed pairing if you explicity ask for it on a VTO line, pick it up in Open Time or assigned while on Reserve/Airport Standby.

Those who fly it on reserve should be sure to provide feedback to both the Union and Management on the cumulative fatigue and sleep problems associated with this trip as currently designed.

...it will only be worse when they start hub turning guys before or after it.

NAFTA. Could be that giant sucking sound (Ross Perot) I've been hearing.

I had never heard of it before either. Looked it up. City of 750,000 or so and metro area of over a million. I believe north of Mexico City. Amazing how we can be oblivious of a metro area of over a million just next door. Could be part of our new intra Mexico deal announced last year or the year prior.

By the way DLax...

Thank you for bringing that to our attention. I've been sitting RSV for a while now and without a DP in the 27 for so long, I've kinda stopped paying attention. I know, I know... shame on me!

No worries --- Spread the word, especially to all the new hires in the FO and SO seat hired this year.

Some topics just do not get discussed during IOE.

It stinks that Reserve guys will end up flying this kind of trip at Reserve Pay (...mostly B Reserve, I believe, based on the showtime), but that's the Disputed Pairing process we currently live in.

If we hold the line on NOT voluntarily picking the trip up in Open Time, the View/Add Window or on a VTO line, then hopefully we can keep this trip out of the bidpack permanently.

NOTE:

Looks like the company already added another trip to QRO on Thanksgiving Day, but it's an X-pairing and therefore not disputed.

And it shouldn't be!

Why? ...because they've built it as a simple PM O&B (...as the Union suggested).

Now, they just need to fix the other 16 pairings.

Safe....Legal....Reliable.

Thumbs up

Do my eyes decieve me?

Looks like the View/Add window is closed out and NONE of these trips were picked up in any crew position.

Nice!! Very, VERY NICE!!

VTO lines next ---- then Open Time food fight next week.

Keep up the safety first mindset!!
