I did think it was odd that they asked a question about him, when he hasn't really had any time to show us anything, one way or the other.

You know John H was our first contract administrator and he told me once he wished he hadn't done the job because half the guys here thought he was on the company's side. If you are going to have a pilot interpret the contract for the company lawyers (witch I'd think would be a good thing) you want a guy that knows how the game is played. They don't do the direct negotiations or make any final decisions, if they did (since they get paid like we do) I'm sure we'd all be making $700.00 bucks and hour and have 6 months vacation a year. So, yea he can be a good guy. I think JH was (not sure about JL) and Billy Mac seems to have done a good job too, if I'm to believe RI assessment.

You guys give the pilot management way too much credit/power.

I'm just more optimistic about our potential management structure than I have been in 15 years. First tell will be who gets selected for these new captain managers. If BM regurgitates ex-management types I think he'll be making a mistake. I want to see line guys in those jobs!

Well RT, I think you would make a fine Capt manager! Make sure you send BM your resume!

I think it's a good thing that you are recently optimistic but not sure why. Can you get more specific?

I haven't been happy with more than a couple of specific issues that are within the realm of flight management. Seems like a lot of power to me. Not sure how this can get much worse under someone who isn't a good guy or doesn't know how the game is played but I guess it's possible.

4A2b
- carryover and line spreads across fleets
- keeping flying "off the books" until after the bid pack comes out

Lateness of getting out of 4A2b (BM was negotiating that one)

Accepted fares policy/administration change
- This is a good one. They denied a change occurred for some time even though it was firmly in place
- Remember OR saying he would look into it? Still waiting for a response...

Secondary line building (building too many so they can serve as more flexible reserve lines)

DP resolution results

Harassment of mil pilots and Sick pilots

Scheduling's new found freedom to split crewmembers off of a pairing based on who's deviating. Ever have the pleasure to witness scheduling failing to make a pairing legal just because you deviated? Even when they went to the trouble for your FO and you mention that to them? Why do we have to bring in contract enforcement to make them stop cheating? Why can't the "good guys" in flight management square it away?

Nothing more than another ladder climber. When PC came on as VP of Ops, JL was seen as a confrontational SCP to PC. Therefore he "requested" to return to the line. We got OR as a "yes" man, and not a confrontational SCP (unless you were out of uniform). Now we have BM who has spent most of his career in either union or management positions, looking constantly for the next gold ring. There were two individuals that I can think of that interviewed for the position (SM and JB) that were not selected. In my opinion, both of these individuals are head and shoulders above the current selection in integrity, fairness, and willing to make this pilot group a cohesive one. We have an SCP that will play nice for awhile, but I would be willing to bet that the sole reason for him wanting this position is power, and a fatter wallet at the end of his career.....guess I can't blame him for that.

Took me about 15 minutes to finish the survey and another 5 or so to give written "suggestions." Don't waste this opportunity, folks, they don't come that often.
Do I get a complimentary "Brown Bag" with my direct dealing lunch?
