Good sports bar in Shanghai?
Flying in today, and wondering if there's a good locale at which my crew & I might gather to watch a little T-Day football? Bringing it to the source of knowledge;)!

You might try The Big Bamboo or Malones. Both within walking distance northeast of the Hilton.

Malones is a sports bar with plenty of TV's. The locals smoke in there however so be prepared to smell like cigarettes if you stay long. It is relatively close to the hotel and an easy walk. The food is western and they have Guinness and Kilkenny on tap. You might call it the James Joyce of Shanghai but it's actually Canadian owned. Quite a few pilots and expats go there.
Out of the hotel take a left and climb the stairs to go over the highway. Once up on the upper level and walking over the highway go down the stairs kitty-corner to the ones you came up. Walk to the next corner and cross the street. You should be right next to the temple. Go right. Go down about 3 blocks and take a left on Tongren Rd. Malones is about one block down on the left. |
Another vote for the Big Bamboo
Go to the Big Bamboo. Good food, lots of TVs, large upstairs with no smoking.
Happy Thanksgiving! fbh |

Big Bamboo
I have spent many early mornings at Big Bamboo watching NFL games. They will put on anything you want and have a great menu and drinks.

Where is the Big Bamboo from the hotel?

Google?????????
Of all the places in the world, Shanghai isn't the place to avoid a taxi because you're a cheap airline pilot. A quick trip to the concierge, 10 minutes in a taxi and ~$3 is probably the best solution to this search. |
