Default Where should I live Hong Kong?

I am a new hire moving to Hong Kong in the spring. It is just my wife and I. Where would you suggest living? Thanks.

Hey congrats, you must be thrilled! Im assuming you work for purple? I studied abroad in HK, and all the expats tend to live in the Midlevels, quite nice, albeit pricy, but convenient to Central (the downtown area of HK) or The Peak (the area in the mountains that overlooks Victoria Harbor). There are some nice areas out in the New Territories (the surrounding islands, Discovery Bay, Deep Water Bay, etc), but part of the fun in HK is living close to downtown, commuting on the Airport Express, taking a star ferry when you go out to dinner.

It is my goal to eventually move to HK and fly for Cathay, Dragon, or obviously FedEX!

Cheers, and have a happy holiday season!

Yes we are very fired up about living there! What about the central district? Too pricey? Thanks for the input. Cheers!

Lots of pilots live near the airport, nice digs and cheap. Just talking to a guy that pays around 2100/mo for 1100sq ft including utilities. Easy to get around subway right there. Good luck and welcome to purple.

Welcome aboard! We have a google group for the FedEx crews in HKG. Join the group and we can help with any info you need.

If you want a quick answer to your question... it depends. How much money, how close to the restaurants, bars, how far from the airport. Do you want your wife to have expats friends around when you are on a trip? One thing for sure is that you both will enjoy our lifestyle if you have an open mind.

See you on the play ground!!

So this FedEx pilot is being interviewed by a prominent psychologist, and as part of the interview, the pilot is given the Rorschach test. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a series of ink blots that are shown to the subject, who then responds with his or her perception of what each inkblot represents. These perceptions are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation. Anyway, our guy, looks at each inkblot in turn and when asked for his impression of each, he answers by graphically telling the psychologist that each inkblot is very, very sexual in nature. After the full test is administered, the psychologist tells our boy that he has a filthy mind, and that he's embarrassed by the graphic descriptions, to which our boy says "What do you mean doc, you're the one with the dirty pictures!"

Approaching life with an open mind is a good thing, swingers club or no.
