FedEx deviation bank use

Quick question:

While on a long layover (>48hrs), can one use deviation bank money from abtrip earlier in the month to:
-purchase ticket(s) for a quick trip home?, or
-rent a car for the layover?

Thank you.

You can not use the money to buy a ticket during the layover and rental cars are never reimbursed. Try to jumpseat out and buy a ticket to get back. It might be worth if you want to get home for a couple of days.

I have occasionally jumpseated home (on other carriers) during long layovers. I would expense the taxis from the layover hotel to the airport and back. I vaguely remember an email (maybe FCIF? SCP email?) saying it wasn't an authorized expense. The email was after I did it and I never claimed the expense again ...

I have even had parking at the scheduled layover hotel turned down, but that was hit or miss depending on the auditor. Unless the scheduled layover has a deadhead on one end or the other, I do not think anything in the contract lets you spend any of your dev bank for travel on that layover.

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

This forum as always is a great place for info, and of course, for great rumors too ;)
