I'm in the middle of the pack, and expect to be recalled for Peak 2013. This last round of recalls was initiated to try to get a reprieve from the no waivers no favors from the pilot ranks. I don't think it worked.
Thanks guys.
Thats just my opinion. If I'm wrong my wife, dogs, and I will be extremely excited and I'll be buying all the cheese you can eat that night at F Street.

Unfortunately I have only the most cynical expectations about the company's actions...pretty much forever. I think that they partly/mostly started a token (yet welcome nonetheless) recall as a trial balloon, to assess our strength and resolve, which I think disappointed them. They likely need to bring guys back making the assumption that they actually care about the increasing service failures...which they don't. I foresee no breakthroughs unless the economy surges and/or Davis is replaced by someone that wants to make more beans instead of just counting them. Not holding my breath, and I think they have all manner of hyjinks planned for us in the coming months.

That being said, returning furloughees will only be allowed to buy free cheese in my presence.

Unrelated, but, back after Sept 11, my current regional R&I chairman basically said,"Any furlough doesn't break even for 18 months. Anything less than that the company is basically admitting that furloughing was a mistake. Anything more than that and the company actually shows "saving money". As a result, I don't expect to see any recalls till at least the 18 month mark, because they'll never admit that furloughing was a mistake."

Over the last two rounds of furloughs at my current employer, they were all 18-25 months in duration +/-.

May 2010 + 18 = Oct 2011 - June 2012 +/-.
Also the clock starts when the last pilot is furloughed - not the first.

Now, age 65 kicks in Dec 13, 2012. So that may change things, a little.

Fuzzy airline math.............May 2010 + 18 = Oct 2012........???????

It's not math... it's UPS math.

Jay,

I feel better now. I consider this furlough as a short term training event for retirement...................... :)

TriSpool 01-10-2012 01:28 PM

Today, UPS VP of Flight Operations Matt Capozzoli announced that UPS would not be recalling any crewmembers in February or March of this year. Capozzoli did express the Company’s hope that additional crewmembers can be recalled beyond March.

So predictable, file suite, postpone recalls. Management there is such a joke.

Shockwaves 01-10-2012 01:58 PM

And the training continues..................I needed additional beach time anyway.

Guys, the irony is what made the furlough profitable was the open time band. If it weren't for the EB calling for such, the company savings would not have been nearly what it has been as a result. The economic risk to the company of ending the furloughing is ending the open time band. Thanks EB for helping cost justifying the furlough! We could not have done it without you.
