UPS NURPs

Tick tock boys and girls! The days of benefiting from a union contract are coming to an end!! The writing is on the wall. Can you see it??

OKLATEX 01-28-2012 01:26 PM

For us non-UPS guys, can you explain what you mean?

L'il J.Seinfeld 01-28-2012 01:34 PM

We have Nurps, non-union replacement pilots on the payroll as management pilots. They usually write meaningless bulletins and hassle us over sick calls. However, since the furlough they are doing more and more line flying--basically doing our work. We tried to accrete them via a card drive but it fell short.

I'm from the mil and this has been my only airline, but I'd have to calls these guys something worse than scabs. To fly the line while another is furloughee is just wrong.

Ok, but what's behind this thread's original post? Anything specific or just a general rant?

Since the FAA doesn't think their office duty conflicts with their flying/reserve duties in the same day ...

the IPA will negotiate their jobs away. since they really don't want a union ?

if only ...

How the eff did the nurps come to pass? Did the company find a loophole in the IPA contract?

You don't really want to know. It has been ignored for too long. Not a loophole at all, just a UPS/Teamsters clause that has gone unnoticed, unconcerned, not on the radar, swung at and missed ???

:o

Bottom line, NURPs are wanna be scabs with little to no moral character. The FAA is bought and paid for by ups and they will continue to work manipulate the system to get what they want.

I look forward to the day that ups decides they don't need so many of these "chair straightners" that they fire a few and they are unemployed. They had their chance to join the IPA but didn't.

Word on the street is their positions are being "in sourced" to newer and lower qualified positions. Atlanta has been looking at how much work/pay they are getting and realizing there is way too much inefficiencies with the structure. One of the reasons T.N. and "Kneecap" were brought in.

I guess you really don't need that union after all. Between UPS and the IPA I believe you are between a rock and a "hard place". I would say I wish you luck, but that train left the station! :D

Rumor is one of their new "talented" wonders is failing miserably at checking out on the MD! Really scary this has gone on this long.

Probably due a promotion then ...
