Offering more voluntary leave in the next bid period. They are still overstaffed...........the union will produce slides soon affirming the companies position.

Wait till they replace the pilot group with UAVs! Of course that will NEVER happen.......just like they will NEVER furlough. One thing I have learned is never say never.

Making Fred want to be more like Scott.

UPS has cut every sector of the company not just to, but into the bone. Even with giving away market share to Fed Ex (who does offer better customer service by any measure), UPS' profit margin dwarfs Fed Ex. Much of it is due to UPS' superior ground network and while paying more in every job description than Fed Ex getting more out of each surf/employee.

The guy is a rock star to the BOD and major share holders...to us, not so much.

This party will eventually end as UPS cedes market share to Fed Ex and becomes unable to respond to what I HOPE is an impending recovery. In that event, UPS will be left behind and Davis will cash out and leave us to flounder and be picked over by vultures. What I mean by "I HOPE" is partly obvious...I hope there is a recovery and that the BOD replaces Davis with a growth guy like Fred.

Or...if the economy flounders even more, Davis may well be the Nostradamus of the shipping industry.

On and on it goes, this thing of ours.

really sideshow, picked over by vultures. still acquiring airframes, not ceding much, if any, market share. An ultra-conservative company doing what ultra-conservative companies do, stay low and hoard cash until they are convinced that a recovery has taken hold...usually 2-3 years after everyone else got the memo. I'm fairly confident, and I'm almost as paranoid as you, that when the time comes and UPS feels like growing the company, they will. Doubtful that the BOD will let Davis singlehandedly sink the company..

Awesome earnings report, great if you are a share holder. Not so much if you are a pilot.
Great company to work for with solid job security. Not so much if you are a pilot.

UPS ground and trucking operations kicks ass, mostly due to their largest economies to scale, and have fat margins. Unfortunately though it just seems like management is throwing in the towel in regards to the air freight division. At least they are sitting on a horde of cash when they decide to get aggressive and compete again.

It'll turn, just a question of when

With this earning report out, UPS had decided to give the remaining furloughed pilots an additional year of retirement training. Lower management is the source of this rumor, FQS. Has anyone else heard this rumor. Recalls to start again in 2013.

This really makes my day.......................the beatings will continue.

"Bring out your dead, bring out your dead......but I am not dead yet", "Oh shut up and stop acting like a baby!"

Did not hear that, but did hear that lower management is on the chopping block. Maybe why they would spread that rumor.

Shockwaves 02-01-2012 11:49 AM

Now that would make my day.... in a good sense. At least I have 5 years remaining on my recall. The FQM would be, "Don't let the door hit your butt on the way out.":)

FR8TFLYER 02-01-2012 12:02 PM

NURPS are running scared, hopefully some of them will get fired, that would make my day. These guys are tasked to prowl sites like this and the Bar and Grill to see what the latest rumors are and spread management lies to stir the pot.

I don't think this will happen, it's not about the money, rather the control...

Grumble 02-02-2012 02:57 AM

UPS's financials and stock look solid. P/E ratio is only 18, dividends and yields are all solid. Minus the big stock buy back, that one has me wondering. Other than that, seems like you guys should be growing the operation.

Here's hoping for you guys on the street.
