FDX negotiations

More public whining and complaining has hit the FDX ALPA membership in the guise of "message lines" from MEC members.

TH says he expects (wants?) the current negotiation process to fail. Then he makes a 16 pt. list attempting to discuss the FDX MEC Chairman's judgment. You can read it here.

FDX Pilots > Home > Content > Content View

Prior to the list he attacks the Chairman's integrity and the democratic process. No details on that, just accusation. The recall is viewed by TH as failure of the democratic process. I see his point that it's not normal but the process is in the policy manual and there is a vote involved. Two, in fact. Sounds democratic to me unless he feels the ballot box is compromised. Interestingly, TH made a similar rant after he lost the interim election for block rep. No one there was impressed.

I can't post the list as these guys have convinced APC they shouldn't be subject to objective scrutiny by their peers. They shamelessly attack the free speech of others as they claim their's is under attack (it isn't, at all). They only want those they don't like to have their voices curtailed. How democratic is that? Points 9 and 10 in the link above specifically reveal his desire to restrict the voices of others.

TH lists many things as if the sheer volume will give his claims credibility and convince us he is doing some real work as Block rep. Go thru these items and get some real answers to the charges.

One has to wonder, why doesn't TH bring these items to the attention to the MEC while they are in session and attempt to actually work through them. He then might be able to report on some PROGRESS on the issues he proudly proclaims in his message lines. Traditionally that is what message lines are for. He should read what others put out to learn but he has already indicated he will keep doing what he's doing until he leaves office. There is no room for learning at this point.

I like to see MEC reps get things done when they spend our dues $$$ attending a meeting, not publicly complain about their peers after the meeting is over. It's definitely a disturbing trend.

They are all a bunch of babies. IMHO.

Negotiations. One side of this split thinks negotiations are going great and one side is not happy with the progress. After one year they have almost got section 24(filling of vacancies) ready. Are you satisfied with that pace? Now, I think that's a joke but we got our 3% and maybe most FedEx Pilots are satisfied with the status quo. I hope they are because I'm willing to wager quite a few beers that our president's prediction of a early 2013 contract is as optimistic as his asking the company to voluntarily adopt the new rest rules.

Not a matter of being satisfied with the status quo, simply what will produce the quickest contract with the things we want. My answer nothing. We will get a contract when the company thinks it will be to their advantage to give us one. Not a minute sooner. We have nothing the company wants. Might as well let the NC hammer out the small stuff till the company is ready to talk money in 2015 or so. Status quo is as good as it gets.

You guys may have a point but I'm not going to argue those types of issues.

Are any of the charges TH has put forward being formally investigated? If things are as bad as he says the only way to fix it is to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Has anyone heard anything?
