2 day/2 leg DH

ANC-lower 48, layover
L48-Asia the next day.

I usually cnx everything but this time I may keep the second leg to Asia as scheduled.

Can someone give me the latest gouge:

1- Can you deviate the first leg and keep the second by just checking the deviate box for the leg you don't want?

2 -If you keep the second, will the transpo in Asia still be there or does that get cnx'd?

3 -Are you protected on the second leg if you just cnx the first?

I know we've dealt with this here before, but I'd just like to confirm my suspicions.
Thanks.

No, if you deviate from the first leg you will be considered deviating from the whole thing. You will have to arrange for transport on your own.

And hotel in the lower 48 will come out of dev bank.

Thanks.
It was pretty obvious when I check the box for the first day's travel. I got a big caution pop-up saying I was deviating the whole thing.

I had to rebook the second leg even though I'm using the same flight, so I'm guessing no protection. I have back ups if needed.

The hotel thing is a little gray for me. Are you saying that even if you end up in the same hotel/same timeframe that it'll come out of your bank?

My only experience with that was another 2-leg DH to Asia. The first leg was an operational jumpseat(which I cnxed) and I deviated the leg to Asia. I made my way to SFO on my own and used the scheduled hotel but a different flight to Asia. No charge to my bank for the hotel. The only weird thing was that I had to deviate the Asia leg like a mid-trip because it looked that way to the computer because of the first leg jumpseat.

Hotel in the lower 48 can be expensed. Check the contract.
Also, you can stop up to 48 hours international and 24 domestic. And the ruling from Audit for me was where your layover is. If your first stop is domestic and then your final stop is international on your deadhead, you can only stop for 24 hours before proceeding.
I used to come back from Asia, hit SFO for less than 24 and expense a room in SFO.

Which hotel are you talking about? The one domestic before you take the D/H to Asia? Or the one in Asia? The one in Asia is covered. I'm pretty sure the one in the US is not cancelled when you deviate and you should be able to use it, but I'm not 100% sure.

I was talking about the domestic hotel before the DH to Asia. I think you're right. It's not cancelled. That was my experience (even though it was a slightly abnormal situation). We also just got that hotel policy change recently - if you cnx a hotel and then decide you need it, they'll get it back for you.

Appdude, I know you can expense a hotel on the way there. The question was whether you'll have to pick up the tab with your travel bank if you actually use the scheduled hotel after you deviate the flights.

Adler, you can keep the gt if you only deviate on the first leg. Below is a copy for the same subject last year:

Back to the question at hand. If your d/h is MEM-ATL-CDG for example and you want to cnx the MEM-ATL leg and keep the ATL-CDG leg you can and the GT will be waiting for you in CDG when you arrive. The catch is two fold, when you deviate only deviate on the MEM-ATL leg (first error most crew members make is they deviate on both legs) now FOX will cancel both legs(who knows why) so now you need to call Corp Travel and rebook ATL-CDG on the exact same flight that is on the pairing. Your GT in CDG is tied to the second leg. You can confirm this by looking at the Summary Format of your pairing and it will show exactly what legs you are deviating on. Same holds true for coming back to the states if you have a two leg CDG-AMS-MEM. Keep the CDG-AMS, deviate on AMS-MEM, rebook pairing CDG-AMS leg and the GT will stay. I have been doing this ever since we went to FOX and it works everytime.

Yeah, not sure about the scheduled hotel. I always went to a nonscheduled city of my choosing.

This is all true. Just as a note of precaution, make sure you can get a fare from Global travel that is within your bank before you cancel the scheduled D/H. I would call and book what you want and then deviate from the first leg of your pairing after you are satisfied with your deviation reservation. Sometimes seats are limited (Spring Break, holidays, conventions in city, etc.) and Global travel cannot get you another ticket at their contracted discount rate. International fares can vary by big bucks if they can't get the normal discount.
