Default Airbus loss of flying June bid pack

So , here we have another loss of flying lines for the Airbus ........ How about some comments on what is going on ? Do we have a loss of flying in other aircraft ? Why do we have a loss of flying lines and carryover lines still in the bid pack ? Do I smell 4a2b ? Where is our Union on this issue ?

Were any contractual limits exceeded? If not, we really don't have a problem yet then. Would you like some cheese with that whine?

They have to do something to encourage the guys to pick up those HKG X pairings.

"Some cheese with that whine", typical Fedex pilot response.

Actually, if that response is not typical, it should be. If TFB really wanted to know what's happened to the flying in his bid pack, he'd have called someone in the know, instead of posting that question to the uninformed masses here on APC, while at the same time inferring that somehow it's either ALPA's fault, or that they should have let the crew force know about the "issue." Hey, if you want to get the answer, call the guys who built the bid pack. If they can't help you, call your ACP.

Just an idea...But, maybe when the SIG notes are published, they might give us a clue. Until then we'll just have to wait until management is finished approving what the SIG can tell us.

My guess is that those Irish pilots are flying our stuff.

No Irish pilots flying our stuff in anything bigger than an ATR this side of the pond! However, the 757 is taking a lot of the 'Bus routes since March in the EMEA.

Default FDX MEC sheds some light on it....

Did you happen to read the email from FDX MEC from yesterday? I think the new Part 117 reg's is responsible for part of the loss. Pairings might get reworked but more than likely trips will be dumped into Open Time for Secondaries. At .80 mach it ain't looking good for the slow bus.

Read #3...that means 18% was affected

Hub-Turns and FAR Part 117
May 10, 2012

There is a popular misconception that FAR Part 117 rules for Flight and Duty times will destroy week on/week off flying. That’s just not true. Let’s consider the MEM A300 June 2012 Schedule:

1) FAR 117 allows up to 5 consecutive nights as long as the crews receive 2 hours in a suitable accommodation (sleep room or recliner room. Click here to view FAR 117).

2) That means a total hub-turn time of at least 3+30 (30 minute postflight+2 hour rest+1hour flight planning).

3) For the June 2012 MEM A300 schedule that equates to 82% of the sort facility hub-turns would meet the requirement for 5 consecutive nights.

4) The cities that did not are the likes of MEM-YYC, MEM-BUR, OAK-AFW and ORD-AFW, all of which are much higher block and some of which are only built for 3 consecutive nights now.

How many airbuses have been parked in the desert? A lot of A310's are going away!
