Default FDX vacation Bid

Say I have vacation the last week of the month, call it days 21-28. I bid a line that has trips the first two weeks, days 1-14. To use any vacation I would expand my vacation to knock out days 8-14.

My question is when is my vacation footprint after this is done, (ie when can I not pick anything else up and work). Is it still day 21-28 of the month, or is it days 8-28, or 8-14?

I am trying to knock out the second week of work and then hawk open time for better trips the second and third week and still take vacation the fourth. Can I expand the vacation and still fly trips out of open time that week?

Viper, if you "slide" your vacation, the vacation foot print moves. If you "expand" your vacation, the foot print remains the same. I've been up for a while, did I answer your question?

FBH got it right.
If you expand, those days don't show up in the footprint so you can then go pick up trips from open time during those days if you so desire. If you slide, the actual footprint is changed on your calendar and you cannot.

That is correct. Also note that if you intend to use your vacation in the next month you MUST slide your vacation into the forward month. You cannot expand into the next month unless your new footprint carries over into the new month.

What if you already slid your vacation into the following month, can you still expand in the processing window to drop trips outside your new footprint?

Yes. There is a limit as to the max that you can expand past your vacation hours though. Look it up.

Ok, I swear I looked in the contract, but couldn't find it...

I'm curious. I have vacation 3-10 December, and was awarded a line that had a trip 10-15 December. I'm not sliding my vacation or otherwise adjusting it. Obviously, the trip drops. Can I pick up a trip that operates say, 14-18 December? I seem to remember someone telling me that I couldn't, but I couldn't find it in the CBA.

Any help?

the only days you can not operate a trip is on your actual "V" days as awarded or slid. You can operate on any other day including days within an expansion, your red line is a no go.

Ok, thanks. On the Bid Period Processing Summary a capital "V" is your vacations, and it shows a lower-case "v" on the trips dropped by vacation. So, "V" is a no-go, but a "v" is okay?

yes that is fine, any day that is not covered by the red vacation line is OK to be flown on.
