FDX Sr. VP Message to Crew Force.

FDX Sr. VP Message to Crew Force.
I appreciate the fact that P. C$$L is addressing the crew force, and acknowledging the fact that overall, we're happy with the company yet dissatisfied with the "leadership" that has been afforded us so far.
Unless the leopards in charge can change their spots, I'm somewhat doubtful.
I DO want the management of Flight Operations to be the benchmark of the industry. I DO want the pilots of other airlines to say, "not only is FedEx a great company to work for, but the management there actually cares for their crew force, and wants them to be operationally SAFE, and fundamentally sound in their dealings with a crew force that's a valuable asset, and not just a cost center."
Unless the $$ is out of the equation (and I do mean for the $$ to have a dual meaning), I'll remain doubtful but hopeful.
Now it's time to freshen up my toddy, and hear what the rest of you have to say.....

Show ME the MEM SLEEPROOMS!
Show ME the MEM SLEEPROOMS!
Enough for any pilot transiting MEM within 24 hrs of an active trip.
Fatigue is the 800lb Gorilla in the room.
No more walking zoombies, or guys getting "half sleep" in old office cubicles with cell phone alarms ringing every 15 mins.
Yes --- it would be nice to have better crew lounges, cockpit cleaning, chairs, break rooms, crew stairs, shuttle bus awnings and less potholes in the parking lot --- but none of those are "safety" issues that directly address our #1 safety issue --- cumulartive fatigue.
Show ME the MEM SLEEPROOMS!
....enough for everyone to truly mitigate cumulative fatigue: before, during and after trips.
Fly safe!

I made a special trip to my crashpad in order to comply with the "clean out your lockers" deadline. Haven't seen a single bit of activity on the new sleep rooms?
On a different deadline subject ... I moved my airport car by the "deadline." What's the status on the parking lot construction.
Concerning Capt. PC's letter ... in the past month I've submitted an ASAP Report, a Flight Safety Report and a POR. No reply on ANY of them! Why wouldn't I think that no one cares about my input!*?
I'd like to take all the prose seriously (I REALLY would!) but ...

Communication, or lack there of
I had an issue recently, that ended up with some communication to my Fleet Captain on how to get an issue fixed.
3 emails over 10 days, not a response, not a peep...guess it doesn't matter, more important things going on, like villifying the HK4...
Yep, we're in good hands...
I put this stuff all down to putting lipstick on the pig. No matter how you clean it up, even with the purtier lipstick, it is still a pig.
New uniforms, "new enhanced" PFC/VIPS, very token improvements on sleep rooms - only because they are trying to show they are already doing all they can on fatigue, town hall meetings...or should I say direct dealings...
All while nickle and diming us...optimized schedules, disputed pairings...more ground trans in CAN...or as I call it, the on the way to work demolition derby...
Glad we had this little chat.

It is a GOOD thing that you haven't heard about your ASAP report. That means it is being used to protect you AND inform them of an issue which they wouldn't have known about. If there had been an issue with you, ie, it was reported by ATC or the FAA, then you would be hearing something from ALPA. If you are curious about a report, call ALPA safety and talk to them.
In short, no news is good news when you file an ASAP. Trust me. Had it two other airlines.
