Bad Blood

Hey what's with all this bad blood between the 2 guys running for Block 1 rep? Their supporters often make veiled accusations and yesterday one of the guys running said the other one had made a "blatant lie" in reference to his work with some committee some time ago. What's up?

And you thought that mud-slinging was only between Corker and Jr.

It's these "old guys" that you have to thank for your being at the best airline (IMHO) in the US and possibly the world. They have been there and done that and helped organize this splintered pilot group when you still cutting your aviator wings. Now shut up and let the big boys fight.

They didn't help organize crap. These really senior guys are the ones that drug this out for so long in the mid-late 90's! And I'm not hammering the union reps.

Past...

Jeez

Next thing you know you'll be singing the praises of old guys like Bob Lavender. I for one will not ever be a supporter of the authors of the Pensionrights express website....or whatever that drivel was. It undercut our negotiators...and they were crusty old guys.

Agree, aren't the old gys the biggest percentage of non-members here. How is that organizing this group?

Say past, sober that is.

the old guys

There have been, over the years, a lot of "purple kool-aid" drinkers.

BUT there were also quite a few, (ask an "old guy" about "The Stick Shaker" or the "wake up and smell the coffee" brain bag stickers), of us before the flood gates opened in the early 90's trying to get a union,..ANY union (preferably ALPA) on the property.

If we stepped into a time machine and went back about 20 years, you would not recognize this place. The new blood has sure helped, no doubt about it, and I'm very glad that you're here. You are the future "old guys".

If it wasn't for for some of the old "old guys", every day here would be another day on probation and we'd still be getting up-dates that used to go something like this; "Page I-96 (bad example, no slam towards my "silver" friends intended) is no longer applicable to the FCH."

A wise sage once said, " if you forget history, you are doomed to repeat it."

You're an old guy who's probably "not part of the problem"

I am talking about the old guys who didn't learn from history. I am fairly new here and I am aware of all the history, and encourage those who don't know it to read about it on the website. I read it when it was on the FPA website.

According to the official scribes, some of these old guys feel as if they had a contract imposed in their rectum as a result of disunity in 1998. Some of them still don't get it. They don't like the guy in charge and take their ball and go home. At least there is a chance the system is being used this time...that's why elections are such a good idea.

Some of these old guys still harbor non-productive grudges against one another, though I will admit I hear less and less of the "@#$% silver guys", or "Stupid &*%%#%$ purple guys"

The one lesson from "history" or at least the history up til contract 1998, was the infighting and lack of ability to subjugate one's ego for the collective good...undermining negotiators in the process of doing their job.

Old guys who did not learn this lesson from history, tried to set up an alter-ego information website while we were in negotiations. Why they did not offer their expertise under the auspices of a legitimately elected leadership I have no idea. But they went off the reservation and undermined "MY NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE" who spoke for me.

Also, do not underestimate the value of the FNG. In the last 6 years or so, one third of the crew force is new. Strong membership statistics, and we don't care about silver or purple, we just say "our Negotiating Committee speaks for us." We respect our past, those that fought the for what we have, we're pragmatic, and we don't harbor grudges. Maybe some old guys could learn from that.

Frozen Box (ooh that doesn't sound too good)....I am probably preaching to the choir.
