Cdg ramp

Just a thought....If the ramp folks in CDG can not carry our bags due to safety reasons, maybe we should stop them from raiding our cooler as soon as we block in. It is probably not safe for them to carry all that loot down the stairs either. They almost knocked the RFO down this week trying to get to the cooler, and were giddy as school girls over the orange juice, tomato juice and Cokes still in the cooler. I am just looking out for their safety.

Geez ... if it's not safe for the CDG ramp folks to carry our heavy bags it might not be safe for us either? It would cost the company a FORTUNE if a pilot hurt himself carrying luggage and a replacement pilot was not readily available. I bet if we left our bags at the bottoms of the stairs and made it known that we weren't pushing back until our bags were loaded, that our bags would "magically" get loaded on the airplane.
If the (physically challenged?) rampers were really concerned about their safety they could put them on the loader. What's next? The catering is too heavy (the cooler REALLY IS HEAVY) to load on the airplane, maybe the pilots should load their own freight (didn't the Falcon drivers do that in the old days)?
Doesn't the Ramp Manual says that International Ramps are responsible for loading baggage? If CDG gets away with with it, why not all the international ramps?
It might not be safe for maintenance to carry some of those heavy airplane parts, maybe the pilots should do it if they want to get paid for the trip?
Maybe we need to make it a contract item during negotiations, maybe the company can get a vendor? If we have to negotiate this "benefit", I say I'll carry my "too heavy for CDG ramper" bags in exchange for fixing the deviation bank issues

I believe ramp personnel haven't carried the crews bags at STN for years either?

I know you're not expecting someone else to risk injury in your place with your luggage.
There’s got to be some way to get heavy stuff like luggage from the ground to the main cargo deck level. Hmmmmmm let me think……
No one should be forced to risk injury just because you can’t pack or feel the need to make a fashion statement at the Jet Lag. If you want your bag going up the boarding stairs, then you carry it. If there’s that much risk involved with that option, there are plenty of solutions. Do some laundry on the road, bid domestic or put it on the belt loader and get it loaded in Aft Bulk. As Mayday mentioned, I’ll bet they’ll even put it on the main loader platform next to the cans and get it up to the main deck level for you.
If they say “no” to that, then I’d say we’ve got a problem. Bottom line: there’s an easy solution that can keep everyone injury free. Perhaps it just needs to be suggested. Since I easily manage two weeks or more with the standard bag that fits in the overhead, it’s not coming from me.
Anyone loading or unloading my aircraft is welcome to a cold drink whether they help me with my bags or not. Yes, occasionally they do get a bit carried away at times. Getting near the cooler or chiller in CAN post-flight is sort of similar to trying to take your dog’s food bowl back once he’s started. Watch your fingers!!
