UPS proposal hi-lites posted
Published today. 8 year agreement from DOS. 3% pay raise, 3% raise per year of agreement. 3% retro. Increase health premiums 800-1000%. No change to retirement except elim. SS offset. Some improvements in scheduling. Leather jackets. No industry standard rest facilities. Scope rules would eliminate upgrades during lifespan of agreement, except for retirements. What other sign. items did I miss IPAers?

Hard to believe jackets are even on the table, seems like there are bigger fish to fry. (you guys didn't have to bargan for the thermos jugs made out of the de-ice tower did you?
But really, 3% now and 3% per year would look like this for Capt's:
current: $190
DOS: $195.7
year 2: $201.57
year 3: $207.60
year 4: $213.8
year 5: $220.2
year 6: $226.8
year 7: $233.6
year 8: $240.6
What would the retro be based on? 3% of what? Current or DOS rate back to the ammendable date?
Also, what kind of scope language restricts an upgrade? 8 years sitting where you are with 3% per year raises sounds like a fixed cost dream for the company. Of course I don't work there, how much of an impact would that be? I don't think I fully understand what it means and what impact it would have career progression.
Good Luck!

Retro would be on the initial 3% raise back to DOS. Plus: they're throwing a signing bonus our way. whoopee.
Scope that allows UPS to farm out int'l flying to third-tier carriers like MNG Airlines would stop our international growth. Our pilot ranks are growing and upgrades are happenin because of this growth, so we don't want to give UPS a chance to outsource UPS flying.
Historically UPS lowballs its mechanics, delivery folks, and pilots. History is repeating itself, and we all know it's simply another negotiating ploy. We're going to get raises in the neighborhood of 25-33%, 3% spike per year after that, a FedEx type A fund, improved schedules and work rules, and -yes- leather jackets finally.

Leather jackets? It's about time! I love mine.. it's so liberating to not have to drag around a heavy jacket in your suitcase.
Now all you UPS pilots have to do is lose those silly pilot hats!
Good luck securing an industry leading contract. You all deserve it.
