UPS News

I'm hearing big news from sources I believe that big plans are in the works.

1. Postal contract bid looks promising. Not the whole enchilada but significant volume for 2DA.
2. TNT hiccups haven't been surprising. On track to finalizè by spring.
3. FAA rest rules will cause staffing increased if cargo cutout is removed.
4. Company is discussing many issues with IPA and is ready to deal.

Yes, I know, UPS sucks and I hate mgt too. Any other info out there? Recalls?

Hopefully we'll start hiring again. 2013 could be a good year for us after all.

My guess is that lots of the above issues will be "clearer" after the first of the year. I think the company will take a month or so to look at the numbers and make a decision. I believe recalls will resume in Feb or Mar.

Any merit to the displacement bid sometime this month? Heard 15 less MD FO positions in ANC......

I don't want to crush your hopes, but none of this is earth shattering, nor is it certain enough to hang your hat on. I'm still trying to figure out why UPS Airlines is 1/2 the size of FedEx. I've got buddies that are on the street from the furlough and hope your source has some substance to back up the claims. Good luck.

There is supposed to be a bid out next week with a reduction in ANC MD FOs. One of the guys copied it from the CMS site when it was accidentally put up. I called and verified it with the ANC MD scheduling rep last week. It is UPS so I'm sure its subject to change.

In the recent past, it has meant recalls. Looking at bid 1301, some of the ANC MD FOs are doing their 6 month a bid early. There are several whose base month is 2 that are listed for training. Don't know if it means anything or not.

MBB- UPS is a trucking company with airplanes. FedEx is airline with trucks. Core values.

After 12 yrs I can truly say nothing good ever happens here. Period.

UPS moves a lot more packages overall, but fewer through the air. They have different strategies. UPS as a company is very good at trucking "air" shipments that they can make delivery dates on with trucks.
