I just wish you 16 or 18 angry guys would quit attacking the union and the MEC.

It was in the 727 --- during 4A2B --- Feb 2009 thru Jul 2010.

It all depended on what their reserve utilization was vs where they wanted it to be.

There is nothing the Union could do because the contract does not specify when these trips must be placed in OT besides 7am-10am.

The schedulers/company were operating within the letter of the contract, but not the intent.

Specifying that "sick trips" automatically taken from pilots at 7:00am must appear in OT no later than a specific time --- e.g. 7:15 am, each day --- would easily rectify the issue.

What would be the company's argument for not agreeing to this?

Simpy not buying "scheduler workload" --- the sick pilots have already been removed, and the trips are supposed to appear in OT.

At other times in the day, if someone sicks a trip for the next day they fall appear in OT almost immediately.

Yes, that's possible --- but highly unlikely that's what happened when zero trips show up in OT from 7am-9:45 am and then a bunch appear.

Additionally, if a pilot has been sick each day for a series of sequential trips it is very easy to check his calendar after 7am and see that he is still sick.

His calendar will show his trip removal just after 7am --- and then that trip should appear in OT.

When this trip (and others who are "newly sick) do not fall into OT until much, much later between 7am-10am, then clearly the schedulers have been waiting to release the "sick trips" into OT.

I know this post is in jest, however, which should never feel guilty with demanding transparency from the schedulers, management, the union and the MEC.

A lack of transparency, regardless of the underlying truth, breeds distrust.

...and trust, is critical in all succesful organizations --- especially flying organizations!
