FDX: Giant Bikes
 

Has anyone purchased a bike from the Giant Factory in Taipei recently? If so would you be willing to share some details?

Purchased years ago from the Giant bike shop about 20-25 minutes walking distance from the Hyatt. Got nothing but great things to say about the experience! Saved a bunch of money, they boxed and delivered the bike to the hotel...had to take the airport bus to the terminal so the bike fit in the luggage compartment of the bus...cost about $120NT. Bike went to the aircraft with the checked luggage and into the belly no problem. Very painless...

I looked into it about three years ago. Ended up being much cheaper to get a bike in the states, particularly if you factor in sales from places like Performance, etc. If you're HKG based, TPE might still be a good deal.

I priced a bike in a Giant shop about a year ago. The price was about 15% cheaper than my LBS. For a $3K bike, that would mean about paying retail after shipping and having it properly put together. Less hassle to get it locally. Has anyone actually been to the factory? I'd be interested in a tour if they offered one.

Interested in recent experience. Price, shipping cost/hassle, location and logistics. Was it worth the hassle??
