Default UPS and Post Office bid?

I seem to recall hearing that UPS was going to announce something about the postal contract during the last week of January.

With the lack of any announcement and lack of any new system bid, I'm wondering if UPS didn't get awarded anything.

Also, an industry analyst just commented on CNBC today that FedEx is likely to keep all or most of the contract that was put out to bid, albeit, at a much lower rate.

The life at brown continues with pilots on furlough....what else is new?

Nothing for sure over here.... They're not scheduling any training past about march... they have no idea what's going to be awarded...

Good News: UPS will get 16.67% of the contract

Bad News: that 16.67% portion is Saturday delivery.

The USPS will announce by March the results of the competing FedEx and UPS bids. Rumors are that we got anywhere from 30-50% of the contract. We'll find out soon enough...

If history repeats itself, UPS will get zip. They probably weren't in it to win anyway. They just wanted to drive margins on the business down for FedEx. Drive them down low enough, and UPS wouldn't want the business anyway.

My gut says UPS gets 0% and then they'll leak rumors that it was all by design.

Thumbs down

How would this be any different than any other action the company has taken since 2008.
Since 2008 I have seen
1. Reduced fleets
2. Botched the DHL deal
3. furloughed (couldn't even get that right much to the relief of 109 pilots)
4. TNT
5. Soon to be USPS deal

All the while we've managed to get the Stock Price up though!! I guess that helps

We will get 100% of nothing - like usual. It will be spun - like usual - that they meant it to happen that way.
