IPAD's a reality

This is correct. EFB is the primary and will stay in the jet. iPads can be pulled out for reference. One issue that everyone who uses them says is that there is no way to charge it inflight. USB? Alaska has theirs on for takeoff and landing (works great and very easy to use), off for cruise.
I really can't understand why we just don't go for the iPad pure. Is this a situation where we have to have a backup somehow in case it dies? Hence the EFB stays, backed up by Apple? If so, can they move the EFB out of the way and keep it somewhere nearby, but put a good mount for the iPad and let us go with that? My first trip with the new Jepps and I gotta say, it's painful to a degree, but I'll get used to it--why can't it zoom in tighter? The QUALITY of the product just blows. I can get used to the process, but how about something that looks a little better than if I took a pic with an iPhone and used that?!
Obviously, management by objective is at work here. The rollout has been a disaster, the product is weak, everyone is confused...yep, feels just about right!

Partially true. The iPad will charge, just very slowly and might not indicate charging, on a regular USB port. But the good thing is, you will not be using your battery if you are at least plugged in to something. USB has power signaling and the hub and the device negotiate how much power the device is allowed to draw. It is OK to plug an iPad in to any USB port.

I got mine in KIX. Go out hotel like you are going to StarBucks but face the Theater. (The Big Electronic Bill Board).
Walk straight down that Covered passageway until you come to the main street. Don't cross, turn right and walk 1-2 small Japanese blocks.
There is a Electronic department store on your right. This is where I found mine.
