It's true and it was a new wonder kid over in CGN. I bet he learned that at his pedigree university, or maybe it was during the new improved indoc training, or maybe it was in Global War on Error. Can't wait to fly with these new wonder kids. The next time you think the Capt is being a jerk, maybe he's just covering his a** after being sold out to the FAA without any warning. I think the new process isn't designed to pick out future captains, instead it's designed to select future flight management types and FAA moles.

How do you know it's true? That story was floating around ANC a year or so ago.

Have a good friend who is friends with the check airmen who got called in by the company to help answer FAA inquiry. The company was blindsided by this too. It's not a purple urban legend, it's fact. The timing is about right but he's not an anchorage guy, he is at a domicile though.

What qualifications do most of the new hires have? It sounds like from some of the older posts that the current pilot hiring practices are almost over the top. Is that true? What is the current pilot hiring staff looking for?

Cap'n nance
Don't worry about the bust check rides, and if call , go, do your best. After August everybody's..."perfect records "...will be exposed, stage checks , rides etc. the mind set of a perfect pilot is already gone, I know guys hired at major and once there they bust 2 or more checks. When times comes u will be fine, be ready and show the quality of what u are made off. But Like someone posted don't make it a career.
