Atlas
how about looking before crossing a runway...
http://www.ntsb.gov/Events/2006/Most...escription.htm this was sent to me with bad info...apologies all around..told it was atlas taxiing... DISREGUARD looked like a cool animation though. |
They (Atlas) were on landing rollout on another runway and talking to tower on another freq.
|
Yeah, but...

That may be true, but looking at the animation, you would think they would clear the runway they were crossing and stop as opposed to slowly rolling onto the runway with another jet coming at them...IMHO. I know I don't trust tower controllers enough to not look both ways when crossing any runway.
Thats making quite a few assumptions. The text says that no WX info is given. If visibilty was reduced, it may not be as black and white. |
Yeah, Fedex wrote the book on flight safety. Talk about throwing stones in glass houses....

What about LAHSO? We don't, can't by SOP, accept LAHSO, ever. From what I knew about Giant, they have been unable LAHSO in the past, so if they were on roll, and another freq, then this would certainly not been their fault. Is that a possibility or were they using the runway as a taxi way? Were they following instructions given by another controller?
Either way a good reminder of the old bit of airmanship. . .'clear left, clear right'; assuming of course it's a clear day. |

Landing Rollout - unable LAHSO, Controller told unable LAHSO. Total controller error. OK - Disregarding - :) |
