In practice the company has the option of filling secondaries or not. So not everyone gets bumped just because they put a -1. But in your scenario, a 727 guy that bid HKG capt would probably get it and go. They may or may not flush out of the bottom. But I suspect they will not excess out of the FDAs, but that option is always available on a subsequent bid.

That would be interesting. If they posted an opening at HKG I guess the answer is yes. If they don't post an opening at HKG then the company could allow an excessed guy to go there as long as he didn't create another excess. I guess technically if an excessed guy was senior to the guy already getting Passover then the excessed guy should go 1st because he is entitled to anything his seniority can hold right?

Lag - maybe I'm confused but I thought all the FOs getting POP bid to relieve excess on the big excess bid a few years ago - they bid HKG CA and the CBA says a pilot cannot be excesses out of an FDA but those FOs were in fact owed POP...and most still get it. Did the settlement change any if that? The 727 CA that bids HKG CA should get awarded that, will not cause an excess from HKG and he most likely will not go unless A LOT of new HKG CA positions are created.

24.C.6.d. If an excessed pilot is denied an award to an FDA crew position, pursuant to Section 24.C.6.a. or C.6.c. (above), and he has insufficient seniority to be awarded or assigned another crew position with the same or higher rate of pay, he shall be entitled to passover pay.
Maybe they will excess a couple of guys out and then hold a vacancy bid to scare everyone.

[QUOTE=MEMA300;1388088]Why?
They also have a 1% pension (12%B). We willing to give up 50% of our pension to get WB pay for everybody?
There are many provisions in our contract that are better than UPS's.
If that wasn't the case, then you'd hear anecdotes of FedEx pilots leaving to work at UPS instead of the reverse.
Just my opinion that Mgt won't go for WB pay for everyone just to reduce training costs. So, I'm thinking if we proposed it, our pay would settle somewhere between WB\NB pay depending upon how well we negotiate....and personally, I'm happier with the devil I know

You could go as early as the 16th of September. You have to get 1000 "points" to get a good year. You get 95 points per pay period. So, if you work 8 pay periods in the fiscal year you have 760 points. You will accrue 90% of the next years vacation for another 186 points giving you 946 points. If you bid your current years vacation in October/November/December you will have more than enough points to get to 1000 and a "good" year. I used this formula and retired on the 20th of September with a "good" year. Also helps that the vacation buyback limit is waived for the year you retire so you will get paid for all of the unused vacation for the current year plus the accrued vacation for the next year.
