TF-- I generally like hearing your perspective, but now isn't the time.

I think he's right on. UPS management is made up of former loaders/drivers. They believe you treat everyone te same way. They attempt to treat pilots the same way they manage 18 year olds. Likewise they negotiated with the EU and USPS the same way they do the Teamsters and the IPA. Everyone loves to hate MBAs, but that's exactly what UPS needed and didn't have in these recent negotiations.

The IPA is 0 for 6 for any good news. DHL, Cargo Cutout, 32 and 7, TNT, USPS, NURPS, and finally STAR. Oh yea, add in IST flying.

What a Joke this place is. The IPA needs to force STAR out and the IST flying back. I don't see 15 767's on the Ramp in Paris doing FDX flying. Purple flies to Dublin, IST, TLV, Athens, etc, etc. This is what is killing the IPA and upward movement.

And the IPA needs to go to Federal Court for the NURPS. Not some lame Card Drive! Go to Northern Virginia and go to a Labor Court and File. Closed Shop, NURPS are not management, doing the Line pilots Job, etc.

Let the Judge hear the Brief. Let UPS file their Brief. Let the Federal Labor Judge go sit on it for 6 months. Get the Decision. Done.

The Card Drive was a Joke angle to get the NURPS out. It has to be a Court injuction. The IPA may lose. But so what if they do. It's status quo.
And I believe the IPA would Win in Court.

Not to mention the 32-7 we are still waiting on. And the Cargo Cutout issue.

And don't forget their First Class Travel while we sit in the back of a cold dirty Freighter.

lol-

I don't know what to tell you except my impressions of UPS air operations were not warm and fuzzy during the early 90's in which I was offered a job in their maintenance operations. I decided not to take the position because UPS had no vision which way the air operation unit was going up to and including getting rid of it. You're right in one aspect, if you're part of the trucking division you will feel the love from brown. UPS appeared to be happier about their air operations when it was a contract operation.

They still have no vision of air operations. Their lack of interest in the air side has me concerned that we may be headed back to contractors. If it saves them more than $50 a year, they will do it.

Too bad the FAA won't allow that. On a side note, we are already contractors. UPS contracts with the IPA.

Like the dozens of regionals that operate under a mainline name ?

Like the FAA that allows cargo pilots different rest requirements ?

UPS will figure out a way to exercise control without "operational" control ... money talks
