UPS 747-400 bid

We'll know officially tomorrow, but a quick run down shows the bottom guy at seniority 2100. That is a July 2000 hire date for a -400 captain.

Anyone want to make bets on how many revisions we'll see to this mega bid?

jungle 11-30-2006 03:24 PM

Begging your pardon sir, but doesn't the 744 bid close at 12/15 1000 SDF time? Friday will be the MD11 bid closure. The 744 will probably get a lot of reaction from potential MD displacements.

What kind of timeframe would pilots currently on the seniority list expect training occur? Would newhires after that point start to be selected for the -400?

jungle 11-30-2006 03:32 PM

Line guys are expected to start 744 training 8/07. Newhires? Who knows, it all depends on how many shift from the MD and how many can talk their wives into ANC.

Ummmm NO! Try 1500 number for 400 captain and 2100 for ANC MD Captain. and its Sep 2000 for the MD. (After displacements)

I believe you are reading it wrong, the 400 bid closes 12/1 along with the system bid, then the displacement closes 12/15.

You are correct, but the final shakeout won't be known until 12/15. Thanks for the clarification.
I agree with your guesstimates on the seniority.

Beagle_Lover 11-30-2006 07:15 PM

What is the difference between a displacement vs system bid?

jungle 11-30-2006 07:21 PM

The displaced, like the departed, are those moved to another domicile/aircraft due to system demands. They can bid to another aircraft/domicile if available in the sytem bid but some will be forced to move as the proverbial seniority rolls down hill.

So the displacement bid occurs between the 2nd and 15th for the pilots unable to hold their current a/c or domicile? So if i was a SDF MD FO and that position was moved to ANC then i could bid something else my seniority would hold?
