Yes, you jest. But why should we have to pay to get into position, if it costs no more than flying the scheduled pairing. Especially as a single RFO.

Agreed, hopefully a fix is around the corner.

Thanks all for the info, no GT was there when I arrived cause of the deviation as predicted so I went for the Air France bus #2. Fairly painless, cost 17Euro one way (so no shoes or popsicles for the kids this month ;-), dropped me right at the Hyatt Regency Hotel 1/4 block from the James Joyce Pub. I tried standing in line to buy a ticket at the machine, but it didn't work. Turns out it isn't necessary anyway, just get on the bus and pay the guy directly in Euros. Had to wait about 45 minutes for the bus to actually show up so the times inside weren't accurate and the ride took about :45.

Not a bad way to get downtown overall. Now I have to do my final check in...

Thanks!

Didn't want to start a new thread. Does anyone know how much parklane charges airport to Sheraton in Hkg? Also, I heard that you can get the red cabs to charge to your hotel room. Does anyone have an experience with this? Not interested in buses or subways. Thanks.

I've always had Parklane bill the hotel directly (even when I was deviating and expecting to have to expense the cost myself). I never had to pay for it, I assume they bill the company directly like the rest of our ground transportation.

If you're deviating and concerned about your bank, you can take the subway (subway terminal is in the airport terminal) to Kowloon Station and then take the red taxis from there.

Disclaimer: I haven't been there in a few years ...

Unless the prices have changed, it's about $65 USD.

Just did this a couple of months ago. $450 HKD from the airport to the Sheraton. I contacted the HKG Ramp and they arranged everything -- very helpful, or you can contact Michelle (Hong Kong Limo) @ this email address: [email protected]

Same thing goes for CAN.

I know you said you're not interested, but I might change your mind ...

How 'bout a train?

Don't turn your nose up at the Airport Express. It is very clean, comfortable, efficient, and reliable. The seats face forward or aft -- not sideways like your typical subway car -- and are fabric covered. Very nice ride. I think it's much more comfortable than the ride in the car, and you don't have to worry about traffic. The Airport Express runs every 10 minutes, and it takes 21 minutes to get from the airport to Kowloon Station.

The walk to the Airport Express Train is actually shorter than the walk to the limo lobby or the taxi stand. It's on the same level as the Arrivals Hall, and there are big signs pointing the way. Basically, you walk out of arrivals, walk straight across to the opposite side of the arrivals hall, and walk straight up to the train.

From the Kowloon Station, the Airport Express has FREE shuttle buses to the hotels. Bus K4 serves the Sheraton, and runs every 12 minutes. The Sheraton is the first stop.

The Airport Express is faster, and it's a whole lot less expensive than a limo or taxi. If you're not interested in free, you can always take a taxi from Kowloon Station to the Sheraton.

You can purchase a ticket at the kiosk just to your left as you're exiting Immigration, or at a kiosk in the Arrivals hall, or you can board with no ticket and purchase the ticket when you arrive at Kowloon Station. It'll run you 90 HK$ (~USD 11.60).

I just did the Paris GT. Going to the former concord, the bus makes sense but going to the Bercy, you have to cab or train anyway from there. What I did to get the Bercy is I took the RER to Gare de Nord, then transferred to the M4, then at Chatelet transferred to M14. I exited at Cour Saint Emilion which is right there at the Bercy. Sounds like a lot of trouble but actually easy enough as long as you don't have huge bags. The total cost was 9.5 euros paid with the new company credit card with pin at the kiosk. Total time about 50 minutes.
