FedEx Hub Turn Meeting

Just had a Mech on PERSONAL status on the J/S JAX-MEM bragging about going and coming from a Daytona race, Posters, pics and the whole shebang.....then boasting how he was in line for a "Mech" managerial position and was going to work on expanded J/S privileges for Mechs. The fool was so dense he couldnt see or feel the "chill" he created w/the other J/Seaters.......sheesh

My opinion...
this isnt about a matter of "stopping". That isn't the issue. I welcome mechanics to fly. The way this was done was at very low level, and an attempt to circumvent the clear intent of the FAR's. (in my opinion)
Addressing it head on, some frank discussions and leadership, and use of previous federal decisions on this issue, that have been enforced here and at several other airlines would be the direction I would advocate.

Don't take these jokers as a representation of the crew force. This issue is merely a distraction that the weak-minded are buying into. It will be worked out. Our true target is contract negotiations and I think most pilots are on that page.

Flightmech - I'm betting the cool-to-tool ratio is a more in the AMTs favor. We have some real winners in the window seats! You'd be welcome on my airplane any day.

There is a mechanic in DFW that rides the jumpseat 2-4 times per month, not per year.
However, that's not the reason I started the thread.
I really just wanted to know what was said at the hub turn meeting.
Nothing more, nothing less.
