i love it !!! the golden age !!! i caught the last of the round engines in the lower '48, flying DC3s and CV340s in the 90's,and loving every minute of it, in fact my first crossing was in the DC3 but thats another story.

What FARs? The FAA was first established in around 1958. Mark, you are the perfect example of a waste of a good education.

The article mentions a "Capt. Paul Mliner"; I flew with a former FTL Paul Mliner several times at FDX after he merger; guessing his son?

Yes, Paul Sr. was #1 at Seaboard from day#1. After Paul Sr. retired at age 60 he was Chief Pilot at Capitol International in Wilmington, DE. I met Paul Sr. After he hired me over the phone as a DC8 F/O in May 1970 during my first furlough at Seaboard. He also got us $650 a month, flat salary. ALPA contract rate was $450 mo. My first month I flew 105:00 so I guess me pay was about $6.00 an hour. BTW that first furlough ended 2/75.

You guys worry about PBS, the talk in those days was the idea of pilot nav and getting rid of the navigator.
