Another example of govt logic!

Now Obama targets your FedEx, UPS packages

Counterperson: Do you have any hazardous materials in here?

CUstomer: Nope.

Counterperson: Ok!

Maybe I can send a bunch of lithium ion batteries?

I don't think FedEx should be punished for sending prescription drugs, but there has to be some level of responsibility too...

In a different but related story ... while on a layover in ANC I purchased some air conditioning freon. I assumed it was Non-flammable gas (HAZMAT). I didn't want to get "caught" sneaking it into MEM for my jumpseat home.

I took the package to the local FedEx Office, I asked about shipping "HAZ" ... the conversation went something like this,

"Mr. Mayday Mark, in order to ship hazardous material you must have attended FedEx HAZMAT shipping class." I told them I had ... "And you must have annual recurrent training." I told them I had ... They said all HAZ shipments incur a $20 surcharge. I said OK ... End of conversation.

Easy!

Last month I had a FedEx security manager that works specifically for/with the USPS here at FedEx on a jumpseat. He said it was illegal to scan ANY of the priority mail. Why you might ask?..... he said that "package profiling" was not tolerated by the post office. FedEx can scan their stuff but none of the USPS junk is every checked.
