FDX Mid trip deviation ?

I've got a long RFO trip next month with a mid trip dh. On either end of the dh is a 48hr layover in 2 of my least favorite cities. I was thinking of deviating over to Osaka for at least one night and wondered if the hotel (I'd use the Swiss) would be covered with my deviation bank or if they would cover it since I would be canceling the night in Seoul. I've never deviated to a different city than what's on my schedule though I've heard many guys do it. Thanks for the help.

You will have to pay for the Osaka hotel out of your deviation bank. Cancelled hotels and GT funds simply go back into the company's pocket. Also, remember you will only be reimbursed for the contract rate at the Swisshotel.

Make sure you shore pass includes where you want to go.
If you do not coordinate, it usually only says Narita and Tokyo, as an example.

I did something similar years ago.....didn't want to stay in Delhi so I deviated and went to Shanghai for a couple days before repositioning to Narita. I didn't even stay at the company Hilton but right next door at the Equitorial. I just expensed the hotel using my excess deviation bank money.
