Note to FDX 777 pilots
#1
My son recently found himself in conversation with a couple FDX 777 pilots. When he mentions that his dad flies 777s for Korean Air, all he got in response were disparaging grimaces.
Obviously you've got no clue about my job, but that's not my point. You're talking to a kid about his Dad, for crissakes. Have a little class.

I don't know anyone who would do that to the child of a fellow aviator. Sorry he happened to run into THE 2% that exists at every company. But we aren't all like that. Pigeonholing an entire group of people on a public forum isn't much better behavior.

That's really poor form. I am very sorry that happened. Your son had the misfortune of talking to a couple of tools.

Show your son some leadership and go address the two offenders yourself.

Since I doubt they knew you the grimace was likely about Korean, very likely we might find Korean Captains who might wrinkle their nose at the mention of American Cowboys at FedEx.
Most of us understand one pilot is much like another and doing the same job, nothing to get it in a wad about.

It's been a few years now but I've seen the same thing from a select few Delta, United and American pilots.

This is hearsay, your honor, and inadmissible in this fine forum. But since you went there, girlfriend, perhaps they weren't grimaces at all, but the sun or a glint in their eyes? Perhaps one had gas, and the other reacted in kind? Perhaps your son has a rather charming speech impediment, and when he said, "Korean Air," it sounded like, "Kowweeeen Aour." Perhaps it was your son who grimaced, wishing that his father was more like those studly fedex pilots with ALPA pins and hats? Perhaps he was mistaken, and they weren't fedex pilots at all but those other trash haulers at Brown? Perhaps perhaps perhaps. So please, unless you're a fedex pilot, don't crap on us. The same reason why your can't tell a joke about the Pope unless you're catholic.
