And not returned? And they took the charger too? TSA theft is rampant.

Computer stolen from TSA.....

Don't mean to sound like a di$@ but "lighten" your computer bag? 2.96 lbs of one of the lightest notebooks there is? That's filed under the risk reward section of deadheading, I never check anything I am not prepared to have swiped. I am sorry for your trouble though....the end result sucks for sure.

Last month when I went to work, I had some medications stolen from my toilet kit.
I had a very generic, small plastic screw top container with a bunch of little blue pills in it. (let the jokes begin) However, the only thing that would happen to the thief, is their headache or joint pain would go away. They were generic Aleve bought from Costco.

At that point, I realized that prescription meds are being targeted too by the scumbags. Oxycontin and the derivatives, and manly type drugs or anything that costs a lot or may be strictly controlled would be targets.
How I wish we could severely punish thieves!
And the Airlines don't give a hoot about your belongings.

Just a thought but it might be fun to elevate it by reporting to TSA that your an airline pilot and have some sensitive information on it, flight schedules, old fcifs, copy of the FOM, customs procedures, etc., not that we do have anything sensitive, but could expedite a response.

The only option nowadays is to not check anything you can not afford to lose.

Many years ago, coming back from a dive trip, I made the mistake of checking my bags (and dive stuff) in with AA in MIA several hours before my flight. When I picked up my bags I noticed that they had been broken into and stuff was scattered all over. But oddly nothing was missing. When I filed a damaged bag claim with AA I was told the bag thieves generally are looking for drugs and jewelry they can easily stuff in their pockets. A scuba regulator, fins, etc. was just too big to be hide apparently.

If my Macbook Air gets stolen it has the ability to be located and secretly take a photo of the Perp which is then sent to the Po Po. I just remember the option when I was setting it up.

Possible Solution?

https://www.securewrap.com/img/subbanner_image.png

this web site says they will re-wrap for free if TSA needs to open to inspect.

at least this way, you'd know who did or didn't open your luggage
