I watched an hour long special a couple weeks ago on how hackers can get into any networked device you own and turn the camera on after you have disabled it. Spooky. The special showed creeps watching teenage girls in their bedrooms and families in their living rooms via IPad/Laptop/Desktop cameras. The only way to be sure is to cover the camera with something opaque.
