open time dilemma

As usual, open time request are taking forever to process. So as I sit here, I figured I'd make a turkey sandwich and eat more pumpkin pie. But then I'm thinking that eating too much will make me fat and the FAA will make me do a sleep apnea test. Why can't they just process the request so I can go to bed and not raid the fridge:mad::rolleyes:

I'd advise you to stop being so unrealistically optimistic. Turkey sandwich and pumpkin pie? It's not too early for cabbage and corned beef, which is what you'll probably have in the fridge when your request actually gets processed. But let me save you a little suspense...
Denied for earlier time stamp.

My reserve day drop request came back denied within about 5 min. 18 on reserve, 10 max open! They want us to trust them with PBS! Yea right!

or insufficient reserves

Over three hours to process a request is unacceptable. WE NEED TO GET BETTER LANGUAGE IN THE NEXT CONTRACT! Other carriers have real time trip trades and trades with open time. I think FDX should as well. Not only do we need to say no to PBS we need to really need to push for significant quality of life improvements like REAL TIME TRIP TRADING!

I talked to a scheduler not long ago and he said they want real time trip trades also. The rumor on their side is that the company is going to make us pay for it, contract talks leverage.
The pathetic part of this is the company always spouts safety above everything else. You could certainly argue that real time trip trades could lead to better schedules, safer, individually. The company is not going to allow this cost neutral service until we pay for it in real dollars.

Are you surprised? Why did we FedEx withdraw from Know Crew Member? Maybe to see if they could get ALPA to pay for it?

What's next? Will we have to pay for crew parking? Catering? Hotels? After all, we get paid per diem?

Hey Mark, don't give them any ideas please:)

Open time as usual

Yea, pitiful that WE allow the company to have their way with us on this and other matters ............... Until this crew force learns NOT to rubber stamp what is brought in front of them, and learns to READ the T.A. front to back before pushing the VOTE FOR buttons ................ we will continue to get screwed ................. It is no one else's fault except for those that approve it and then take it to the masses for the rubber stamping process

It's pitiful that the company wants us to pay for a quality of life/safety improvement when it truly is a no cost. If anybody's to blame it's our flight management that doesn't have the b$lls to to recognize this and do something about it.
