UPS Hiring in the New Year
#101
Here we go again.
I bid domestic sort flying. I make tons, quality of life is superb, and the crew facilities could not be better. I'm in the Guard and I spend a great deal of time home w my wife and kids and coaching my son's middle school team. I honestly can't think of anything to gripe about that is worse than the 767 Jumpseat being uncomfortable.
I thank the IPA. UPS is a job and they view me as a number. Frontseat needs to feel loved by UPS. I just need to be paid.

I hope I live that long to see a number over the average !

Fedex, 4a2b (like it or not) no one furloughed.
Alaska Airlines? Also paid for cobra.
So that's a pretty big statement that the IPA has done more than ANY other union, EVER.
Did they do a lot, yes. More than any other? Debatable.
I get tired of the union love fest on the B&G (and here). God forbid you disagree with anything or anyone, one of the 12 disciples will land on you like a house and tell you to go back and color. Which reminds me, I've been in the corner so long I need to go sharpen my crayons.
Carry on.....

Hard to even get an interview with "furloughed, brown **** stain" on your collar. Of those that are on property I have heard rumor of several with AA numbers looking at going back and at least one active that has interviewed with DL. Like I said, careers flying by without even the opportunity to say you wouldn't go back.

I've been hearing from more and more UPS pilots who are getting "irritated" with these junior pilots whining about everything under the sun about how UPS is the worst place in the world. They are hoping these disgruntled whiners would just go away to some other airline where the grass will always be greener.

Watch the hyperbole. You know those UPS mgt slugs would live to come after you for slander.
I'm happy at ups and everyone I've flown with is too. Delta and the others are hiring. I honestly don't understand why you'd be miserable at a place when you could go to another. Anyone hired here that's junior has a heckuva resume.
You know exactly what a UPS FO makes and the quality of life when you live in domicile. The vast majority, like >99%, are happy here. That doesn't mean we don't have gripes, but trying to convince outsiders that the job sucks is just ridiculous.

I call BS. When someone working as a pilot at UPS applies, interviews, and is hired at another airline please report back. Until then I tell anyone reading this that what you wrote above is "bar talk" and isn't remotely true. It's as good now as it's been in 5 years at UPS.
Totally different situation for the 40 guys on the street.

L'il,
There's a reason nobody junior is leaving for other airlines. And you know this, of course.
Not one junior F/O makes less than a narrowbody captain at the Legacies. I've queried a few, and not one made less than two hundred grand in 2013.
The math says it all. Make a ton of money, or forfeit it all for passenger flying with crappy conflict rules and retirement?

Ironically, one of the loudest whiners (on our internal forum) about schedule quality, is a Capt who bids in the top FIVE.
That speaks volumes about the downhill slide this place has taken !
