UPS Hiring in the New Year
#142
We are pilots...UPS is a trucking company and not an airline...what don't you get?...The company has people in place to figure out how to remove as many "unproductive" positions as possible...The logistic warehousing of items is costing opportunities in the cockpit, and UPS can now ship items on boats and trains with little impact on expedited service. I remember during my interview the words..."We are a trucking company"...I knew right there and then...uh, oh!

WOW! Guys, you only live once! If you are so miserable at UPS, go get another job! This ain't even close to the best place to work, but the grass is not always greener on the other side. If you come to work with the "expectation Zero" mindset, you will not be disappointed.

I started the cereal box religion "Expectation Zero" with the intent of (obviously) mocking the company, but also to set what I see as the only practical perspective WRT maintaining sanity in a situation where we as line guys have virtually ZERO control, and perhaps many of us had unrealistic EXPECTATIONS of career progression given our current corporate leadership.
The leadership of this company is a Gecko wannabe who couldn't sell pu**y in a lumber camp and would be perfectly content seeing this place implode after his last share is sold. We are not on the BOD so we have no control over that.
We have no control over the economy.
We have no control over the FAA.
We ONLY have control over our conduct and unity.
As you were....
Expect Zero, stick together...simple. Everything else is chin music.

This job is what it is. I was hired during the same timeframe as Seinfeld. Ended up getting bumped out of SDF and doing the domicile shuffle but eventually back to SDF. Also bailed and took two year mil orders to try and help bring furloughees back. Eventually the remaining 40 will be brought back. But guys, don't let this stuff give you a heart attack or a stroke. Just not worth it.
The company's push on USERRA issues is nothing new. Its a free country fellas. UPS can ask whatever they want. However, USERRA is very clear as to what the crewmembers must provide and in what fashion depending on length and duration of orders. At the end of the day, the IPA can not mandate, direct or require that crewmembers do anything. All we can do is suggest, advise, or recommend certain COA's.

You mean both of them? And one was a chick.
Can't argue that. Very bad deal all the way around. How/why it is the way it is is beyond me. But like I said before, FQS flying is my big complaint. We as the IPA need to push it. After the "we have the cards" debacle I'm not sue how we do it.

I do understand the disgruntled mood at UPS and I do 'get it'. And I know that if I got hired on when Hell freezes over, that at my same tenure at UPS verses my current major job, I would be making $55,000 more in the opposite seat with less overall responsibility.
I don't have a lot of years left and am looking for a place to earn as much as I can even sacrificing QOL.
I know I will never upgrade no matter where I go, so earning the max career pay in the right seat works for me.

You know we have furloughees for over 3 years, and that pays nothing ...
