Astar gains approval for N. Pacific ops
I just wonder what airplane will Astar use on this route? The DC-8?

ASTAR Extends Services to the Pacific
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2005--ASTAR Air Cargo recently received operation specification approval from the FAA for North Pacific operations. ASTAR received rights to fly to the area this year, and flew their first trip flawlessly.
While many were celebrating Independence Day on July 4, three crewmembers and two loadmasters from ASTAR were departing Cincinnati on a historical journey for ASTAR. This historic flight took ASTAR into areas the airline had never operated before.
The trip consisted of a North Pacific operation to Japan on to Singapore and back. This trip represented ASTAR's first North Pacific crossing and Pacific Rim flights.
"The North Pacific represents another market for ASTAR to grow and expand our operation," stated Ray Lutz, Senior Vice President. "Charter Operations' persistence in pursuing this opportunity and the great teamwork that came together from all of our departments led to this historical first and hopefully the first of many operations for us."
Many ASTAR employees are familiar with operating in the Pacific area, which was beneficial for making the first flight a successful flight.
ASTAR is a major full charter operator both domestically and internationally. The company has major commitments to charter operations and with the Pacific authority worldwide. ASTAR remains optimistic that the remainder of the year will present numerous opportunities for the company to expand its services.

Speaking of Narita, has anyone been down to the Jet Lag Club around the corner from the Barge Inn?
Pretty cool bar with some great original airline ads & posters from the 60's, free pool & popcorn and the best beer* selection in town.
Well worth a visit. The owner, Vincent, is a former Sabena F/A as is his wife who is a local. If you stop in, be sure to tell 'em you heard about him here! I'm always telling him that lots of his regulars are on this board!
*as long as you like ale & not that crappy local "beer".
