Southern Air Hiring Rumor
#43
Will this be like the last hiring window in 9/12 where as soon as you get hired, there is a HUGE chance of furlough or is this going to pan out? Cheers, I like to eat and pay my mortgage after being on the street for so long.

After taxes and money for your crash pad, you're taking home around $2000 a month. On top of that, you're begging for jumpseats to work. Better hope they have a commutable schedule, they could spread out the the "10 days off" over the course of the month, and you'll never get to go home. With a brutal 20/10 schedule, remember you have to travel TO work on your days OFF. They probably won't release you until the end of your 20th day, so you'll travel home from CVG on your off day, so actually, unless you live in CVG, you have more like a 22/8 schedule.
I know that any job is better than no job, and this can help pay for food and mortgage, but with the low pay and horrible QOL, it may be worth looking at something that is local for you. At least when you're earning peanuts, you get to see your family every night.

This is the deal that ABX, ATLAS, ATI and Lord knows who else all voted down.

I certainly hope you're being facetious, because it's not about what aircraft you're flying, but about the pay, benefits, and quality of life. Or at least it should be, unless of course you're one of those guys with an exceptionally big watch, to go with your big ego.

According to Southwest's new TV commercial, the 737 is, "you know, the big ones".
