World Airways
Hey guys and gals;
Just got the nod from World. I have a few questions for you guys. How is the training? When does you senority start? How is a normal training schedule? Anything else we need to know when we walk through the door on Jan 10th. How are the rumors over there on FDX taking your A/C. Anything of value or just the normal rumor mill? |

The important stuff: Request a fridge and microwave as soon as you get to the hotel, they go fast. Hotel bar is expensive, B-52's is in the building next to the Doubletree where you will be staying - be sure and tip Jill and Ruthy well. The cafeteria at the Delta training center is an absolute rip-off. Go down the street for the burrito place, Schlotskys, BBQ, or Greek food. Do not walk around the hotel alone at night, you will get mugged. If you go home for the weekend, make sure you will get back for class, otherwise you will be fired. If you don't go home, the MARTA goes to Buckhead for weekend fun. Do not show up to class unshaved or without a collared shirt - you will be punished. Showing up hung over and reeking of booze is ok. Congrats and welcome to World! We've got a great group of pilots who will make you feel at home. You will not have to buy your own beer your probationary year. If you do, then I apologize - you are flying one with of the 8 a-holes at this company - every other pilot you will fly with is an exceptional human being. |
Thank for the info. I live in ATL. I am going to stay in the hotel for the everything after the indoc. I am really looking forward to the different type of flying. It should be interesting.
Most of my buddys think I am nuts to turn down an interview at DAL. I have a very big in there, but for some strange reason I think that going there is the wrong move by a few miles. Of course time will tell. I think that World is a good place to watch this whole industry sake itself out. Any good info on training? |
If you can complete training (World dosen't train to proficiency) you will join a great group of pilots and we're gonna make you feel welcome.
Just remember when you walk thru the doors, bring your best game, you'll love it. Congrats. |
I am used to that. All of my type rides have been that way. Are your pro checks the same way? Or is just your initial type?
|
Congrats on the job!! Makes for a nice holiday. Did you have an "in" at World or just shot them your resume and got lucky? Never have seen an opening on the web page for flight crew.
Thx, and best of luck to you.:D |
I did not know anyone over at World. I was the only guy that got a nod without an internal LOR. I have to say I was very lucky.

I believe the training contract is prorated, so you could always go to Delta if you change your mind about this place and pay the $. |
