FedEx Pilots Plan Picketing in Alaska
Aug. 04, 2005 DMNews.com FedEx Corp. pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association International will conduct informational picketing today at the entrance to the FedEx sorting facility in Anchorage, AK, to show their frustration with the slow pace of contract talks, the union said yesterday. More than 250 FedEx pilots are based in Anchorage. The pilots are in their 17th month of negotiations. The current working agreement took effect May 31, 1999, and became amendable under the Railway Labor Act on May 31, 2004. FedEx has said that the pilots are the highest paid in the world and that the company is working to negotiate a fair contract. |

This technique, he believed, consisted of telling a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe anyone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously".” The reporters OUGHT to have demanded proof, because FedEx pilots are definitly NOT (even with recent give back contracts) ANYWHERE NEAR the highest paid! SHOW ME THE MONEY!! YOU LIARS!! |
Standard stuff coming from airline management. It's to be expected, really. Play the class envy card, expect the public to sympathize with them. It's all they've got. You've got to take it to these peons with tough, decisive union leadership, it's the only way you'll get any gains at all in 2005.
Remember, it's not what you deserve. It's what you negotiate. As we like to say, FedEx writes the check and ALPA fills in the amount. |
