Training Pay......
Having not been to ITU in 10 years, let me ask a stupid question.
I've looked in the contract but can't find the rules for bidding for pay during training. It sends me in a circle. Could anyone tell me where in the CBA this is??? Carryover doesn't count??? If i look it up, it says pay as spelled out in Sec 3 and 4. That's a help. Bikini |

Go to the FDX Alpa Scheduling Committee archives page and you'll find this link: Schoolhouse Cash
Good stuff. |
so you're saying that carry over only counts on the first month......not after that?
|
thanks alot.

But carryover does go into your makeup bank. That "Scheduling Matters" piece about the subject says, basically, if you want more money now bid "Highest paying line", if you want more money later bid "Highest C/O line" (or whatever it's called).
At least, that was the way I interpreted it. |
You aren't paid C/O but it goes into your makeup bank the first month but not subsequent months.

Bikini Sorry, it's been a rather slow day, so a little self-amusement was in order. |
But using the VIPS codes for highest paying line w/ or w/o c/o 9970 9980 is not the smartest way to bid depending on your seniority while your in pay only status. I'm pretty sure this has been addressed on here sometime ago. If you bid the vips codes you may be denying yourself some pay, especially highest paying w/o carryover. These codes will only look at lines w/ carryover or without carry over.
For example, if you bid highest paying line w/o carryover, you could be awarded a line that pays less than BLG or RLG. If you manually select each line in paying order, stop at BLG. After that, bid any VTO, because a VTO in pay only status pays BLG. Then continue bidding lines that pay less than BLG but more than RLG. Once you reach RLG, bid any reserve line. If you're super junior, continue bidding the remaining regular lines in pay order that pay less than RLG. |

Also, on any line with carryover, the only part that is not payed is the CH in the subsequent month. You will still get the CH of the carryover trip in the current bid month. That's why the generic codes for "max pay W/ or WO/ carryover" don't work well. Bid WO/ Carryover and you may miss a higher paying line that did have carryover. Luckily, we have BidX (or Fastbid for those few holdouts,). Just sort for max credit hours. Select all the lines above Avg BLG, then "any VTO," then all the lines between Avg. BLG and RLG, then "Any Reserve line," then if you need to, all the lines below RLG. |

With reference to when to bid "Any VTO" I'm pretty sure you mean Avg. BLG, as that's what a VTO line pays during pay only. Other than that, an excellent recap.
